Being locked up can make one crazy, yet we were crazy before we came here. Being locked up can do strange things to a young person. Her craziness and wildness gets to us, and affects our own mental illness. What happened to her? Where did she come from? What is her life like outside of this institution? I believe none of us will get close enough to her, to find out. She definitely babbles and hallucinates, and then other times she’s quite normal and pleasant. I think she’s schizophrenic, but I’m not positive. We are sitting right beside her, because we are like her. A message to all of us: that we are here too. The impact from running and hurling herself into the doors knocked her back a few feet where she now lay, limp and convulsing on the floor. We all breathed in, and held our breaths, as we watched her like a little bird that flew into the window, stunned and shocked from the brutal interruption of a mindless flight.
